Congratulations to CCO staff member Derek Melleby and CCO alumnus Don Opitz on the publication of their book, The Outrageous Idea of Academic Faithfulness: A Guide for Students!
Released by Brazos Press on Wednesday, June 6, this one-of-a-kind book has received advance praise from a number of scholars, authors and booksellers. The theme of the book is tied closely to the CCO’s core purpose and reason for hosting the annual Jubilee conference: encouraging college students to apply and integrate their Christian faith into all of their lives, including their academic pursuits.
“We need this book!” says Dan Dupee, the CCO’s President. “The idea of a Christian worldview has passed into common use, but we seem no closer to living what we supposedly believe. Opitz and Melleby assert—correctly I think—that we won’t ever put legs on a biblical vision for all of life until we begin to learn differently. Other people have asserted the same, but I’ve yet to see anyone else make it so clear how this can be done.”
And CCO alumnus and the official bookseller of the CCO, Byron Borger of Hearts and Minds Bookstore in Dallastown, Pennsylvania, calls the book “Impressive. . . . Fun, funny, and very important! Cool cover, too.”
