At its annual awards banquet, Penn State Abington awarded CCO staff member Katy Turman with the Community Service Award for her initiative in starting up an “Alternative Spring Break” program. Over the past couple of years, she has taken students to Biloxi, Mississippi to do Hurricane Katrina relief work, and to the Children’s Bible Fellowship in New York, where students prepared the grounds of the summer camp to reach out to at-risk urban children the following summer.
