CCO staff head to Wyoming

(Pittsburgh) June 3, 2008—On Saturday, May 31, ten students and four CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach) instructors departed from Pittsburgh for a six-week adventure in Wyoming.

Each summer, the CCO sponsors outdoor adventure activities with a purpose: to give college students opportunities to develop practical leadership skills and to build character. To that end, the CCO sponsors the Leadership in the Wilderness (LDW) Wyoming trip.

LDW Wyoming participants head to the mountains and leave behind their cell phones, laptops and DVD players. Participants in the Wyoming trip will spend six weeks in the spectacular Wind River Range of Wyoming. The trip will culminate with a high-altitude mountaineering experience. Activities include backpacking, outdoor living skills, scripture study, first aid training, orienteering, solo experience, mountaineering, rock-climbing, rappelling and journaling.

“LDW Wyoming is an opportunity for students to build character in leadership and judgment in decision-making to live lives of integrity and service to others,” says Joy Guilleux, Director of supervision for the CCO’s Outdoor Leadership Team.

CCO staff members Emily Bean, Josh Hayes, Jessica Kynion, and Ryan Carlson are serving as instructors for LDW Wyoming.

The CCO is a campus ministry organization which partners with churches, colleges and organizations to develop men and women who live out their Christian faith in every area of life.
