She didn’t know that Jesus was a real person.

kelly_rachel.jpg“I have a stupid question: Does the Bible bash Jews?”

This was the lead-in from a student named Rachel. Rach is an athletic trainer and student at the University of Pittsburgh. Her mom is Jewish and her grandmother a Holocaust survivor. Something was on her mind.

Rach had been coming regularly to our weekly student athlete gathering. She felt welcomed, felt loved by the other students and was curious about the Christian faith.

So, of course, we grabbed lunch. She asked lots of questions, good ones. I explained to her that we don’t have to have it all together for Jesus to love and accept us, that we are all broken and in need of forgiveness. I explained to her how to have a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. (She didn’t even know that Jesus was a real person.) She was amazed. “That’s it? This is the most amazing thing I have ever heard.”

And in the way that only God can work, through the power of His Gospel, she gave her life to Christ. “I can honestly say I believe in Jesus for the first time in my life.”

I gave her a Bible and we are meeting regularly as she learns to follow Christ. Jesus changes people’s lives.

Please pray for Rachel as she grows in her faith. And thank you for supporting this ministry.
