Pete Ware, CCO staff member at California University of Pennsylvania, was crowned Mr. Unity at the Black Student Union’s annual formal dinner dance.
The title of Mr. Unity is given to an outstanding male figure who consistently supports and promotes unity across Cal U’s campus and is an active participant of the Black Student Union (BSU).
This is Pete’s second year involved with BSU. He attends weekly meetings as well as frequents BSU-hosted events around campus.
“I do it because it gives me a way to connect with the students at Cal U,” says Pete. “They see that I am involved with them and care for the students there. I see it as a place specifically for minority students to connect. They have barbeques, block parties, basketball tournaments, talent shows, and they invite different speakers to come.”
In the future, Pete is planning on playing an even greater part in the Black Student Union, as he is looking into joining their leadership team.
