Changing the world

This article first appeared in the fall 2010 issue of On Campus magazine.

Did you know that 25% of all of the world’s future leaders are studying in the United States right now? That statistic is courtesy of the U.S. State Department, and it’s been circulating for several years now. It still boggles my mind.

University campuses are rich mission fields, because the international scholars and students who are studying there are already leaders in their countries of origin, or they wouldn’t be here in the first place. This is why CCO staff members Bill Saxton and Ken Wagoner have made it their life’s work to minister to the world from the university campus.

In the Philippines and China, in South Africa, Korea and Ghana, men and women who were introduced to the Gospel message while studying in the United States are now living their faith out in their home countries. In their families, communities and workplaces, they are making a difference for Christ in the places where they are already influencers.

When an international student, who may never have had an opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ, arrives on one of our campuses, the potential to change the world becomes very real indeed. Thank you for partnering with us to transform college students to transform the world.
