CCO seeks candidates for five campus positions

INDIANA

Second Presbyterian Church: Campus Minister to Butler University

A large PC (USA) church located in the affluent community of Meridian Hills just north of downtown Indianapolis, Second Presbyterian Church attracts a large number of business people, so the church reflects that culture in terms of their expectations. Worship style is traditional. The church describes themselves as Christ-centered with a deep heart for serving others, whether that be abroad or locally.

The desired candidate will be a strong leader able to cast vision by winning the support of others. The candidate must be comfortable in a traditional PC (USA) church and able to navigate in a large church structure, an affluent area, and an academically rigorous campus like Butler University.

NEW YORK

North Presbyterian Church: Campus Minister to Elmira College
Over the past eight years through our partnership with North Presbyterian Church, CCO staff have done an exceptional job of earning the respect of the college. With a prime location, the church sits literally one block from the main entrance of Elmira College. There are many opportunities to reach out to students through community service, worship, and special events that the church holds annually. The church truly wants to be involved in the lives of college students. They do not simply want to hire someone to do campus ministry for them. They want to be involved and desire someone who can lead the way with them.

The ideal candidate will have gifts and skills for organizing, empowering, equipping, and inspiring the church to do the work of campus ministry; a strong passion and gifts for evangelism and discipleship; be a team player; and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

OHIO

TAZA Coffeeshop, working with students at the University of Cincinnati
TAZA Coffeeshop is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, across the street from University of Cincinnati. It is a coffeeshop dedicated to great coffee, community and creativity. It is a college student gathering space with different bands and art exhibits each month. TAZA is also connected with the Vineyard Church community of Cincinnati and the owner of TAZA also oversees the multi-site efforts of Vineyard.

This partnership is looking for someone with small business manager experience and someone who loves coffee, creativity and community. Barista experience is welcome, but not necessary. This partnership needs someone who is an extrovert, a gatherer, can multi-task and develop community. Small group and discipleship experience required.

PENNSYLVANIA

Church of the Saviour: Campus Minister to Villanova University & other Philadelphia Main Line schools
Church of the Saviour is a large independent (but from a Reformed tradition) church in the affluent western Philadelphia suburbs known as “the Main Line.” It is located within 10 miles of many colleges and universities, but the primary campus will be to take over the work at Villanova University, which involves working with the only “official” ecumenical group on campus as well as an athlete’s Bible study.

The desired candidate will be a strong male leader able to cast and implement a vision for a church-based campus ministry. This person should also be able to navigate in a large church structure, an affluent area, and a Catholic campus.

For further information, please contact Samuel Chez, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships, at schez {at} ccojubilee(.)org.

Shadyside Presbyterian Church: Campus Minister to Carnegie-Mellon University & Chatham University
Shadyside Presbyterian Church is a beautiful, traditional and formal PC (USA) Presbyterian church with a liturgical service. The church is located within a mile of the campuses of Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University. An historic CCO partnership, in this era of working together, the campus ministry staff need to work collaboratively with each other and with church leaders and staff to integrate students into the life of the church as much as possible. Though both staff will have relationships with students both CMU & Chatham, the focus of outreach, interfaith council involvement, and student group advising will be limited to one campus. CMU is a rigorous, first-tier academic environment where students are very driven and work almost constantly. Chatham’s undergraduate school is still a relatively small, female-only college with the tag line “big thinking for a big world.”

The ideal candidate will be outgoing and hospitable, able to connect quickly and easily with others. They will possess a strong sense of initiative and be proactive in engaging people and opportunities, be an enthusiastic and winsome communicator who is poised and confident. Experience with the Presbyterian church and appreciation for liturgical worship is preferred.
