How the CCO helped Mary Bukovac own her faith

bukovac_mary.jpg“I would like to thank Ted and Melanie for always being there, praying for me and loving me through my time in college,” says Mary Bukovac. “It continued the foundation my mom began and it made more of a difference than I probably ever let them know.”

Mary first met CCO staff worker Ted Schumacher in the late 1980s, when he came to a Kent State University girls’ basketball practice to invite the women to a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting. Mary decided to attend, even though it wasn’t something she’d been thinking of doing. “I wasn’t really looking for a Christian fellowship when I got to college,” she remembers. “Christianity was more of my mom’s belief that she had tried to pass on to her children.”
