Dave McBride serves as an Area Director in South Central Pennsylvania, supervising staff and developing partnerships at churches and campuses in that area.
Dave was mentored by CCO staff worker Chris Jackson during his years as a student at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where he went on to serve as a campus worker for six years after his own graduation. “My belief in Christ and my view of the world is broader, deeper and more relevant thanks to Chris and the partnership of the Presbyterian Church of Shippensburg,” he says. “Really, my relationship with Jesus has deepened because of the CCO ministry at Ship, a ministry that I took over from Chris in 2001.”
Dave joined CCO staff a year after his 2000 graduation, during which time he worked as a medical social worker at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
“I love the freedom the CCO has given me to use my unique skills and gifts to reach students for Christ,” says Dave. “What I have loved the most is seeing students’ faith come alive, both in their understanding about life and in their leadership, their care for the students around them.
“I’m passionate about college ministry because there’s no better time for Christ to make an impact. Most students come into their own at college, making major decisions that will directly affect the course of their life for years to come. They’re taking on significant responsibilities, perhaps for the first time, that will shape what kind of spouse, parent, business leader, community member and worshipper they will be.”
Dave and his wife, Michelle, are raising two daughters, Aubrey and Ava. They live in Shippensburg and worship at the Presbyterian Church of Shippensburg where Dave continues to serve as the contemporary worship leader.
