Mike Mattes is the CCO’s Ohio Director, overseeing our ministry in that state, which includes maintaining and developing positions with churches, colleges and other organizations through which our staff people might reach out to college students.
Mike was involved with the CCO-sponsored Cornerstone Ministry through Bellefield Presbyterian Church during his years as a student at the University of Pittsburgh. He served as a student leader of small group Bible studies for three years, and as a student leader for Habitat for Humanity for two years. He also served for one year as a campus ministry intern with Cornerstone Ministry.
Mike joined CCO staff in January 2002, and he was the first CCO staff person to reach out to students at The Ohio State University. After four years of ministering to students at OSU, Mike became an Area Director in Ohio, and in 2010, he moved into his current Partnership Coordinator position.
“College students are able to ask the fundamental questions for shaping a Christian worldview which will not only carry them through life, but will help them to truly transform the world!” Mike says. “The CCO does this better then any other college ministry through its partnerships with colleges and churches.”
Mike and his wife, Beth, who currently works with the CCO as an associate campus worker at Ohio State and Capital University, live in Columbus, Ohio with their two children.
Everybody on staff at the CCO raises their own financial support, including our partnership coordinators. You can support Mike or anybody else on our area leadership team by contributing online.
