Stephanie Summers serves as Vice President of the Eastern Region and Area Director for Washington, DC/Baltimore. Steph was involved in the CCO’s ministry as a student at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. After graduating in 1998, she came on staff to minister to students at the Community College of Allegheny County in partnership with Crafton Heights Presbyterian Church. She spent several years as an Area Director, supervising staff in southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia, before moving to Washington, DC and taking on her current responsibilities.
“I was a new Christian when I went to college and was very passionate about helping my peers who didn’t know Jesus understand that life in Christ wasn’t ridiculous or impotent, but both the only source of hope and true power,” Stephanie says. “That passion has only increased over time.”
Stephanie remains committed to college ministry for many reasons. “As I see my peers ten years out of college living out the decisions they made as students—for good or ill—I am even more convicted that the college years are the most crucial ones for the forming of a person to either serve God with their whole life or choose instead from the myriad of other options available that are all really just hollow idols. I am profoundly grateful that I get to see how God transforms lives every day, of students, staff and supporters.”
Stephanie lives in the southwest neighborhood Washington, DC with her husband, Jason.
