The CCO ministry at Elmira College is based out of North Presbyterian Church, which is right across the street from the campus. CCO staff member Ericka Hachmeister reaches out to Elmira students.
There are three main focuses of the ministry: outreach, equipping students to live out their Christian faith, and empowering North Church to minister to college students. One way that we have reached out to students has been through CSI, Christian Searching Issues. CSI meets at Elmira College weekly, and at the meetings we discuss various topics relating to faith and life. In addition to reaching out to students, we also strive to help them develop as Christians. There is a weekly dinner and Bible study held off campus, as well as individual and small-group Christian book studies. Students are encouraged to learn and grow as Christians, and we also strive to help them develop as leaders.
Another part of the ministry has been empowering North Church to minister to college students. This has taken place through the creation of a college Sunday school class, a college ministry committee, and church-hosted events geared for college students.
The ministry offers many great opportunities including weekly Bible studies, Exam Nights (church open till 3am during finals with great food, coffee and wireless internet), and a great church home with amazing people. Contact Ericka to find out how you can get involved!
