CCO staff worker Peter Bowersox reaches out to Montgomery County Community College students through the Norristown Community House, alongside his wife, associate staff member Becky Bowersox. They join associate staff member Brady Rennix, who partners with Keystone Fellowship Church to serve this campus comprised of 13,000 commuters.
Peter and Becky established the Norristown Community House as a place for students to experience intentional Christian community where they will develop intimacy with God, community with others and engagement with the world.
MontcoTHRIVE Bluebell Club is a faith-based group that meets weekly to uplift students through friendships and in-depth discussions about how to find success in college academically, socially and spiritually. Bluebell Club meets every Monday at 12:15pm in the Advanced Technology Center, rooms 201 & 202. The primary focus is on small-group discussion and worship during our weekly club meeting. In 2011, the focus is on getting everyone into discipleship groups.
During the fall 2010 semester, over 50 students participated in a charity dodgeball tournament and raised several hundred for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. More than 300 students attended the Thanksgiving Concert/Service and collected over 700 pounds of canned food for Philabundance.
They have also have befriended the Muslim Club and started providing snacks and treats for them each week.
Keystone Fellowship Church hosts a group called THRIVE that meets every week for a College/20’s Worship Service on Monday nights. About 200 students gather from Montco, Arcadia, Temple Ambler, Delaware Valley and Bucks Community College.
