The CCO ministry at Penn State Altoona is headed up by CCO staff members Curtis Wright and Rachel Foose.
The public face of this long-standing work is SALT (Students About Living Truth), a weekly Christian fellowship. SALT is helmed by a group of student leaders and advised by the CCO staff members. The CCO has been in partnership since 1990 with Altoona Collegiate Outreach, a local community board. The fellowship meets to create space for relationships, to provide meaningful, Scriptural teaching, and to serve as a catalyst for change among the students who attend and, vicariously, their peers, friends, and the university.
Less upfront are the workings of the Ministry Team (SALT’s student leaders). These committed folks give of their time and talents to serve their peers in the hopes of seeing vibrant ministry happen in the midst of the community they sustain. Their roles are widely varied within the team, designed to serve all facets of the community and to push us out of ourselves. From the hospitality-oriented ‘Milieu Manager’, to the pragmatic “FUN-draising Coordinator,” to the evangelically-bent “Intramural Team Manager,”this is a group of folks who, under the care and supervision of their CCO Staff, are poised to accomplish some Kingdom-sized tasks.
From preparing lessons for meetings and Bible studies to modeling life-on-life evangelism and discipleship for students, the CCO ministry at Penn State Altoona is designed to serve students and strengthen their faith.
