Crossings

More Information

Curriculum

You’ve spent four years learning about yourself, God and the world in the context of the university, now Crossings will help you adjust everything you’ve learned to life after college. You know you need community – how will you create community after college? You know you need a place of worship – how will you pick a church? You know you need a place to use your gifts – how will you lead and love others when you’re the youngest person in your workplace?

Crossings will focus on a few of the major adjustments you have to make after college – community & relationships, identity & calling and money & possessions. This trip will help you figure out how to keep God at the center of all those things and make wise decisions within each of those areas.

A Day in the Life of a Crossings Participant

On Crossings, you will travel from island to island in the Everglades with a group of 10-12 other students who are making the same transition out of college. At the beginning of the trip, you will meet your instructors and the other participants down in Florida and spend time preparing for the trip and learning how to kayak.

Your first day or two of kayaking and camping will include lessons in wilderness living – everything from how to cook and purify your drinking water to how to bathe. During an average day in the Everglades, you will wake up in the morning, cook breakfast, pack your boats, and get to spend some time on the water. In the evening, after arriving at your next island campsite, you will set up camp and make dinner before getting together to participate in activities or discussions designed to help you process and prepare for your transition.
