On the outside chance that you haven’t been thinking of it, black and gold are lovely colors. They are warm, fuzzy colors. They are the colors of cheers and fireworks. They are the colors of victories and laughter. They are the colors of home.
And home it was the night of May 1 at the Westin Hotel Ballroom. The CCO’s auction was well-attended, including our Honorary Chair, Joe Guyaux of PNC Financial Services, and Mr. McFeely of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood and so many CCO supporters and well-wishers. The items for bidding ranged from cheesecakes to spectacular Steelers tickets to a tour of the Zambelli Fireworks International Plant to a day in Indiana, PA for paying homage to Jimmy Stewart. The table decorations offered Terrible Towels and black and gold tortilla chips. It was a gala of celebrating our wonderful hometown and all of the richness of our traditions.
This was a stellar year which will connect so many students to a life of faith and mission and commitment. That translates into helping to transform the world. Thank you to all who made this evening a real ’Burgh success.
Please mark your calendar for next year’s auction: April 30, 2010 at the Music Hall Foyer of the Carnegie Museum of Pittsburgh!
