French-born François Guilleux came to the United States when he was 11 years old. With extended family in France, François remains connected to his native country and is able to provide insight into French culture. He has led several cross-cultural trips to France over the years. The CCO’s ministry played a key role in François’ development as an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University, from where he went on to earn a Master’s in Education from Harvard University and a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1999, François returned to Pittsburgh and joined the CCO’s Experiential Designs team, and he has been leading cross-cultural and wilderness trips ever since.

A graduate of Messiah College, Joy Guilleux has been on staff with the CCO since 1998. Her experience includes ministering to students at California University of Pennsylvania, followed by five years of adventure-based ministry with the CCO at Westminster College, and supervising the CCO’s Experiential Designs staff members. Joy has led students on various adventure-based trips, including six-week summer trips to Wyoming and Canada.  She has experienced first-hand how experiences in groups on trips gives people learning opportunities that will transform their role in family, work and church life.

François and Joy are certifying instructors with the Wilderness Education Association, and they hold certifications in wilderness emergency medicine.
