French-born François Guilleux came to the United States when he was 11 years old. With extended family in France, François remains connected to his native country and is able to provide insight into French culture. He has led several cross-cultural trips to France over the years. The CCO’s ministry played a key role in François’ development as an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University, from where he went on to earn a Master’s in Education from Harvard University. In 1999, François returned to Pittsburgh and joined the CCO’s Outdoor Leadership Team, and he has been leading cross-cultural and wilderness trips ever since. In addition to his work with our Outdoor Leadership Team, François is currently working on a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, where he is studying leadership education and adult development.

A graduate of Messiah College, Joy Guilleux has been on staff with the CCO since 1998. Her experience includes five years of adventure-based ministry with the CCO at Westminster College, leading six-week summer trips to Wyoming and Canada, and supervising our Outdoor Leadership staff.

Both François and Joy are certifying instructors with the Wilderness Education Association, and they hold certifications in wilderness emergency medicine.
