Southport Presbyterian (EPC) is a congregation of 800 in southern Indianapolis, IN. This position will have two primary responsibilities: 1) Beginning a new ministry at the University of Indianapolis (U of I), a school of roughly 5,000 students, and 2) helping the church to sharpen it’s evangelistic focus. You would be meeting with each of the ministry directors in the church to help them incorporate evangelism into every ministry of the church. As a candidate you must have a strong evengelistic and “missional” bent to you. The church will be looking to you to help their Directors think through creative ways to incorporate outreach into their particular areas of ministry. You must also enjoy pioneering work as you will have the opportunity to launch a brand new ministry at U of I and give it your own unique shape and flavor.

29. Pilgrim Presbyterian with Philadelphia University
Continue leading the Cornerstone Fellowship at Philadelphia University which has a regular weekly large group and several small groups. The University it also very supportive and provides office space and staff status. Philadelphia University is a leader in the architecture, design, engineering, business, textiles, and health and sciences fields. Other schools close by include St. Joseph’s University and Drexel Medical School. Pilgrim Presbyterian Church is a small (100+ attending) PCA congregation located in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia – a diverse community made up of retirees, young professionals, and many graduate and undergraduate students. The church has a strong and active University Ministries Team.

NewPointe is a vibrant and large church in rural Dover, Ohio. It has an active presence in the community, country and world. The church has an understanding of what it means to be missional and a strong heart for seeking the lost. The church currently supports the efforts of the CCO at Kent State Tuscawaras and is looking to begin a formal partnership with the CCO. This would be a new ministry venture for the church, though the have several college students and young adults in attendance, they do not have a formal college ministry within the church. Kent Tuscawaras is a commuter campus with students primarily from neighboring communities. The CCO already has a great reputation on campus with students, staff and faculty – and is seen as a clear presence as students involved in the ministry hang out during the linch hours. The church is looking to continue the CCO legacy on campus.

34. Discovery Church with Capital University
Discovery Church is a young thriving congregation and the re-plant of a local Baptist Church in COlumbus Ohio (re-planted in Gahanna, Ohio). We are looking for an individual that understands the importance of the local church in the lives of college students and is willing to be a team player with a small church staff. The church is located about 20 minutes from the campus of Capital University, and has about 15-20 students already worshiping on Sunday mornings. The pastor, Chris, is also adjunct faculty at Capital University and has a zeal for the mission of the CCO in the lives of college students. Presently the ministry is overseen by the efforts of associate staff, Beth Mattes, but has experienced great growth over the past year and is in need of someone to take it to the next step. The CCO ministry currently has one weekly Bible study on campus with most of its members involved in athletics and Greek Life at Capital University.

This church has been a leader over the last 10 years in reaching students at IU through a Sunday night worship gathering. This gathering has typically drawn 200-300 college students and has been a significant point of influence on the campus. Indiana University is a large state school of nearly 40,000 students so as a candidate you would need to be comfortable in a large college community. Candidates should have the gift set to easily relate with students, organize a worship gathering for the church, promote it well on campus, and create a high-energy environment through which students can connect with Jesus. Public speaking skills are a bonus but not mandatory for the position. If you would love both a large state school and a thriving, dynamic church, then this position is for you!
