- Strategically develops a broad based ministry of evangelism; cultivates a wide range of contacts; expands and improves existing ministries; looks for opportunities to create new ones; effectively meets the challenge of rejection, set back, and disinterest; presses on.
- Sets the tone and provides a leadership example for ministry; drives the vision, mission, and goals of the CCO and cooperative institution; inspires interest and enthusiasm for ministry among student leaders.
- Recruits student leaders; equips others to take on ministry functions in order to expose them to evangelism and also gain more time to build the ministry; provides training and guidance to student leaders.
- Leads Bible studies in a small group setting; invests time in developing mentoring relationships with and discipling selected persons; speaks to large groups.
- Coordinates the people, resources, and organizational details to effectively stage an event; has the flexibility to establish and abide by his/her own schedules; in conjunction with student leaders organizes activities and projects which will provide a context to meet and evangelize new students.
- Keeps track of cultural trends and builds an understanding of how to effectively minister to the current generation; knows and is able to apply/exegete God’s Word; engages and asks questions; is empathetic, discerning, and able to “read between the lines” in discussion in order to truly “see” who a student is and what he/she needs; responds to a diverse array of problems and requests from students; provides nurturing support, encouragement, and empowerment.
- Handles multiple tasks either directly or through delegation; keeps track of what is happening in the ministry but prioritizes and deals first with the most important issues.
- Builds relationships with a mentor or others who can hold him/her accountable and provide the refreshment of friendship apart from the sometimes exhausting pace and atmosphere of campus ministry.
