CCO Staff member Bob Robinson ministers to college students at Kent State University’s Stark Campus, Stark State College, and Malone University in Canton, Ohio, in partnership with Jackson Friends Church, where he serves as Pastor of College Students and Young Adults. Before joining the CCO in 2005, Bob planted and pastored a congregation with the Evangelical Free Church. Bob is ordained with The Chapel Consortium of Churches.
Having planted a new church, I felt God had called me to reach the next generation with the good news of Jesus Christ. I started working with other pastors in my town that were also seeking to reach young adults and college students. It was then that one of these pastors recommended I talk with the CCO about my vision and passion for reaching this group.
I was intrigued by the holistic approach to ministry that the CCO uses, helping students understand that they have a very real, immediate role to play in God’s reconciliation with the world. Young people were encouraged, empowered, and emboldened “to transform the world.” I was humbled and overjoyed to become part of such a marvelous ministry.
As a CCO staff person on the pastoral staff of a local church, I not only minister to college students on local campuses, but I am also able to serve in a particular church congregation. I am fully enmeshed in the life of the church—leading on Sunday mornings at our contemporary worship service, shepherding and discipling church members, and contributing to the mission of our church’s outreach to our community.
